Located within the heart of the City of London, the client wanted to transform the existing run-down low yielding office space into a viable business opportunity that would make the most of the location and surroundings. This led to a planning application for a change of use into a boutique hotel.
To demonstrate the London Planning Policy for energy conservation and fabric improvements, extensive studies were required to establish the building performance in use and its relationship to improving energy targets being adopted by the London Mayor and changes in building control.
BOOM Collective’s role on the project was to develop an energy and sustainability strategy that could convince the Corporation of London that a change of use was a sustainable direction and to assure the client that it could be done in an affordable manner.
The project obtained planning permission to proceed and was successfully sold to a developer to progress the project
